Long time no chat
Hello Everyone!!!
It’s been quite a year since I’ve last updated you all. Last spring, I wrapped up my last full year at Concordia for my BFA undergrad. I then spent the summer working as a Companion for the YMCA Fine Arts Camp at Concordia, which was probably one of the most difficult yet inspiring and rewarding job I’ve ever had, and now I’m just over halfway through my last semester for my BFA. I’m in a very stressful, nerve-wracking, yet rewarding time. I’m seeing my hard work over the last three years come together in my graduate school applications, which is very stressful business, let me tell you, and realizing how far I’ve grown since I started my undergrad in 2021 (spoiler, it’s a whole chasm worth of growth), and I’m absolutely loving my final courses at Concordia.
This year, I’m taking an Intro to Colour Photography course, where I get to shoot film (my fave and most consistent medium) and then head to the dark room and develop it myself. Darkroom work is no joke; I have immense respect for people who print all of their work. This course and my newfound skills mean there’s a good chance for some very limited print runs in the future and a pretty sick project (if I do say so myself) to add to my portfolio this winter.
I’m also taking an Abstract Painting course (which is totally my jam), and I’ve discovered a whole new process, and way of working that feels very natural and intuitive (flow state vibes), and the results are something I’m genuinely proud of and enjoy (very rare for me to be honest). This means new original works are coming to you all this winter, and because I’m so in love with the works, I will 100% be taking some high-res images so I can make art prints as well (prints are more of a far future thing, like spring to fall of 2025). There will also be a new portfolio section for this term at Concordia to dive into the work from my studio courses!
As I wrap up my time at Concordia and prepare for the future (an unknown future), I’m very thankful for the support I have received from all of you since I opened my website, shop, and blog in 2022. Thank you to everyone who has purchased work from me, shown up at some of the art fairs here in Montreal, and, most importantly, just checked out my website. Putting your work out into the world as an artist is hard (this work is an extension of who I am as a person, and it contains my mind, soul, body, and spirit), so thank you all for accepting me in my little corner of the internet universe, and for cheering me on along the way.
With that being said, I will be selling my work at the CAPS Art Market on November 29th at Concordia University in the LB Building from 10 am - 3 pm. To anyone who can come and check out my work and the work of the amazing other artists, artisans and creators, I appreciate it (and so will all the other vendors) and hope you enjoy the market!
